Aside from weddings, Rachel and I really have a blast doing engagement sessions for our couples. Not only is it an opportunity to get some fun, relaxed, and romantic images, it really gives us a chance to further connect with our clients. In addition to this, it really gives our couples a chance to see how we work ( which is crazy at times) and gets them comfortable in front of our cameras. Of course, they are a ton of fun as well!
With warm weather FINALLY returning to Northeast Ohio, we’d though we’d share a few images from some locations around the area we use often for our engagement sessions. We get a lot of questions from clients asking about what locations work best, so what better to show them off then this…
One place in particular we really fell in love with this fall was Chargrin Falls. It’s quaint downtown scenery, complete with awesome store fronts, killer ivy walls, and a ton of unique textures, provides an awesome backdrop for any engagement session. We love it there!
Squires Castle is pretty popular place for us to shoot in the fall. The castle provides a great backdrop, complete with beautiful stonework and some nice greenery all around. There’s a pretty cool trail running right behind the castle as well, and the colors in the fall are really killer.
Downtown Cleveland provides a great urban feel for photographs. We tend to shoot a little around the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and then make our way around the courthouse and various city streets. The greatest thing about shooting downtown is the abundance of places to shoot! We love to drive around, find a location, take the shots we want, and then keeping going until we find something else different. Downtown is especially nice in the summer, when we can shoot till dusk.
While we don’t have any amazing oceans views anywhere nearby, Lake Erie provides a few nice places to shoot in the summer time. Huntington Beach (think Westlake, not San Diego), as well as Mentor Headlands provide some nice locations for pictures.
We’re pretty luck to have the Metroparks system we have, and many of the parks in town are great places for engagement sessions. The above images were taken out in Hinckley Reservation off of route 303. Hinckley is especially cool because there are a lot of different scenes to shoot in a relatively small area, and the park in the Spring and Summer is a great place to spend an afternoon, cameras or not!
Another place we just shot this year for the first time was downtown Akron. Like Cleveland, there are a ton of awesome buildings and great textures to work with!
Aside from these few places, Northeast Ohio has an abundance of great places to photograph at. While these are just a few of our favorites, we love getting to check out new places as well! We hope this helps all of you getting ready for your sessions this Spring or Summer!
